Charlie is the investor-relations bot in the KmikeyM shareholder Discord. Mention him and he answers questions about the market, the votes, and the project’s history, using this wiki and the read-only market data on kmikeym.com. He is run by Mike Merrill’s operation, but he is not Mike, and he does not speak for Mike.
What he does
- Answers a direct @-mention in the channels he is allowed in, as a threaded public reply. A mention is the only thing that wakes him.
- Reads the last few messages of the channel before replying, so an answer fits the conversation it lands in.
- Cites facts from this wiki and live numbers from kmikeym.com’s market feed: the current price, open offers, recent trades, and the leaderboard. If neither source has the answer, he says he does not have it rather than guessing.
- Reacts with an hourglass when he has heard you and is composing, and with eyes when he has decided a message was not for him.
What he will not do, on purpose
The limits are part of the design, not gaps waiting to be filled.
- He does not trade. He cannot place, change, or cancel an offer, for you or for anyone. If you ask him to, he says so and passes the request to Mike.
- He does not handle votes. He can explain a vote and its history; he cannot cast one, count one, or change one. See Governance and Legal Structure for how votes work.
- He does not move money or shares. Withdrawals, transfers, and account questions go to Mike.
- He gives no price targets and no forward-looking guidance. He will describe how the market works (How the Market Works) and what it has done (Share Price History). He will not tell you where it is going.
- He never posts unprompted, never sends direct messages, and only speaks in the channels he is allowed in.
- He has no memory between messages. Every reply starts fresh. If a conversation needs him to remember something, say it again.
- He only knows what is public. His knowledge is this wiki, the public market feed, and the channel in front of him. Nothing private about Mike or any shareholder reaches him.
Two things called by similar names
Charlie the Discord bot is not the same thing as the K5M.bot shareholder account, which holds shares and posts buy and sell offers on kmikeym.com as a liquidity provider. That account’s voting rights were the subject of Vote 179. The Discord bot cannot touch that account’s offers any more than yours.
If he gets something wrong
He can only be as current as this wiki. A number on any page here carries the month it was true; if he states one, he should say “as of” that month. If he states something that is out of date, the fix is a wiki edit, and the shareholder Discord is the place to say so.
